The LSAT Examination: A Quick Overview

The Law School Admission Test is a half-day standardized test that consists of five 35-minute sections of multiple choice questions and one 30-minute writing sample. It is designed to measure the following skills considered essential for law school success:

  • the ability to read and comprehend complex texts
  • the ability to manage time and organize information
  • the ability to process this information to reach conclusions

Preparation for the LSAT

Although a student cannot memorize specific information to do well on the LSAT, one can get the most out of their own natural abilities and skills. A few examples of utilizing one's own skills are to familiarize oneself with the structure of the exam, develop a specific test-taking strategy, and build up speed without sacrificing accuracy.

Course Content

  • Session #1 – Overview of exam and diagnostic test given
  • Session #2 – Analytical reasoning questions are considered by students to be the most difficult question type. This session will explore diagramming techniques and strategies to handle these types of questions
  • Session #3 – Logical reasoning questions are explained and strategies are given to cope with the basic forms or arguments
  • Session #4 – The writing sample, personal statement, the structure and strategy of reading comprehension questions, and coping with test anxiety are all explored in this final session
